Fox Schedules 'Wolverine' and 'Fantastic Four' Sequels

Director Josh Trank hasn't even started filming the new Fantastic Four yet, but Fox is getting itself a franchise no matter what -- in fact, the studio has already set aside July 14, 2017 for the FF sequel. It'll arrive shortly after the sequel to The Wolverine, which -- as previously reported -- will bow after 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse, arriving on March 3, 2017.

The studio also scheduled an "untitled Marvel project" for July 13, 2018, which seems likely to be another X-Men sequel, but could also end up serving as a "shared universe" crossover release that takes advantage of multiple Marvel-derived properties a la The Avengers. X-Men vs. the Fantastic Four, anyone?

Elsewhere on the docket, Fox set dates for Taken 3 (March 4, 2016), Frankenstein (October 2, 2015), and Matthew Vaughn's The Secret Service (October 24, 2014).
