First 'Pain and Gain' Trailer Hits the Web

Pain and Gain

Ready for your first look at the movie responsible for bringing us Mark Wahlberg in Transformers 4?

Presented for your consideration is the first trailer for Pain and Gain, the Michael Bay-directed crime drama about a pair of bodybuilders (played by Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson) who, according to the synopsis, get "caught up in an extortion and kidnapping scheme."

Pain and Gain isn't scheduled to arrive in theaters until April 26, 2013, but Bay is clearly eager to give us a brief glimpse of what we can expect from his first non-blockbuster picture since...uh, basically never. Did he still manage to work in some explosions, CGI, and/or Aerosmith with a puny $22 million budget? Fingers crossed.

And actually, if you want a really in-depth idea of the places Pain and Gain might go, you can just dig up the articles Pete Collins wrote about the "Sun Gym Gang" for the Miami New Times back in the '90s -- it's their sadly ludicrous story that inspired the script by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. We're sure a little dramatic license was taken -- this is Michael Bay, after all -- but maybe the reduced budget and real-life source material will produce suitably muscular results.
