'Fantastic Four' Closing in on Dr. Doom

Fantastic Four

The rumor that Dr. Doom in Fox's Fantastic Four reboot may be a woman is probably just that because TheWrap has learned that the people on the shortlist for the role are all men.

According to Jeff Sneider, Domhnall Gleeson, Toby Kebbell, Eddie Redmayne and Sam Riley are in the mix to play Dr. Doom, the nemesis of the Fantastic Four. Jack Huston was also rumored for the role, but it's not clear if he's still in the running.

The Fantastic Four reboot is scheduled to begin filming in Louisiana this April for a June 19, 2015 release.

Playing the title characters will be Miles Teller (Mr. Fantastic), Michael B. Jordon (Human Torch), Kate Mara (Invisible Woman), and Jamie Bell (Thing). Josh Trank is directing.

According to Matthew Vaughn, who is producing, the reboot won't be anything like the previous two movies.

"It's a total reboot, that's for sure," Vaughn said. "It's got nothing to do with the other bloody ones. It's not stretchy guy and a guy running around in rock that looks like it's made polystyrene. And it’s not a comedy."
