EOB Weekend Box Office Podcast: 1/26/2015 - Another Huge Weekend for American Sniper

Jennifer Lopez in "The Boy Next Door"

In this week’s podcast, Binh and I discuss “American Sniper’s” incredible hold after last week’s record-breaking opening.

I talk about Johnny Depp’s schtick*, and we wonder if people are getting tired of it.

Although “Paddington” is well-reviewed and doing decent biz at the box office, we drew the line on whether or not it would get a sequel. Ditto with the “Tak3n.”

How much extra did Jennifer Lopez’s hotness and Ryan Guzman’s six-pack brought in with “The Boy Next Door?”

Will paring down its production slate from three films to two help Dreamworks Animation’s future, or do they have a more fundamental problem?

What are our projections for this week’s opening films: “Project Almanac,” “The Loft,” and “Black and White?”

For the answers to these questions and many more, check out our podcast.

* I was trying to pronounce “schtick,” but it came out as “stick” in the podcast.
