EOB Weekend Box Office Podcast 11/24/2014: "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I" Lower Than Expected

Binh and I were expecting “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I” to open as well as, if not slightly better than, the previous two films, both of which debuted in the $150M range.
It did $122M, way below our predictions (or even the most conservative figures from the industry). We discuss why that happened.
“Dumb and Dumber To” tumbled in its second week, continuing Jim Carrey’s recent slide at the box office.
We debated over which of the three indies -- “Birdman,” “Foxcatcher,” and “The Theory of Everything” -- will eventually break out.
We also discussed the new “Star Wars” trailer (which will be playing in 30 theaters this weekend), this week’s opening films “Horrible Bosses 2” and “Penguins of Madagascar,” and not much more.
So go ahead, click on the play button. I dare you.
Note to self: stop saying “you know,” “like,” and “Um…”
