Emily VanCamp Joins 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

Emily VanCamp

The female lead in Captain America: The Winter Soldier has gone to TV's Revenge actress Emily VanCamp, Deadline reports. It is unclear what her role will be though.

There's a possibility that VanCamp's role may be that of Carol Danvers aka Ms. Marvel, but the general consensus is that she will play Sharon Charter, the niece of Peggy Carter, the character played by Hayley Atwell in Captain America: The First Avenger. Unless there are some flash backs, Atwell is out of the sequel since The Winter Soldier takes place decades after the first movie.

VanCamp is best known for her role as Emily Thorne in the ABC TV series Revenge in which she tries to get revenge on the people who framed her father for a crime he did not commit.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is scheduled to begin production in April for a April 4, 2014 release.

Chris Evans will reprise his role as Captain America, and he'll be joined by Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson, and possibly Scarlett Johansson. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing.
