Edgar Ramirez will replace Gerard Butler as Bodhi, the character originally portrayed by Patrick Swayze, in the Point Break remake, Alcon announces. Butler dropped out last week due to "scheduling conflicts."

The update is set in the world of extreme sports in which an undercover FBI agent must infiltrate in order to catch a group of robbers.

According to Alcon's co-CEO Broderick Johnson, while the remake have characters and their relationship in common, everything is "different."

"The narrative of the movie is different," Johnson told Collider. "While we do have surfing in the film, it is only a subset of the extreme sports that we deal with, including free-climbing, motocross, wing-suiting and so forth. The movie is being shot in 10 countries across the globe."

Ericson Core is directing from Kurt Wimmer's script. Luke Bracey will portray Keanu Reeves' character Johnny Utah and Ray Winstone will be his partner Angelo Pappas, originally played by Gary Busey.

Warner Bros will release the movie on August 7, 2015.
