'Dredd 2' Is Dead But There Will Be a Short

Judging by the box office return for Dredd, the 2012 redo of comic book adaptation, not many people cared for it. It made $35 million at the global box office while costing $50 million to make. That's not going to do it. Who knew rebooting a poorly received movie with B-list actors was such a bad idea?

While another Dredd movie is lying in six feet under the ground waiting for someone to dig it up again sometime in the far future, the character will continue to live on in the comics and in a short, which producer Adi Shankar is making.

"I am working on a Dredd short in the vein of #DirtyLaundry ... you're actually the first person to know about this," Shankar revealed in a Reddit AMA (via MTV) he participated in last week.

Dirty Laundry is a short Shankar produced last year which starred Thomas Jane as a character very similar to the one he played in the 2004 movie, The Punisher. Watch it here.

Oh, if you ever wondered what happened to Liam Neeson's fate in The Grey, a movie Shankar also produced, he provided the answer in the AMA.
