DreamWorks to Develop Merry Men-centric Robin Hood Movie

Robin Hood has been the subject of many movies, but his partners in crime, the Merry Men? Not so much. That's about to change with DreamWorks' Merry Men.

The studio will make a movie that will place the Merry Men front and center, particularly that of Little John, Friar Tuck, Maid Marian and Will Scarlet, Deadline has learned.

Brad Ingelsby will write the script, and Act of Valor's Scott Waugh is directing.

The movie is said to have a revenge angle and will be tonally similar to The Dirty Dozen and Ocean's Eleven.

The last Robin Hood movie to appear on the big screen was 2010's Robin Hood, a movie directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe as the title character. With a worldwide gross of $321 million at the box office, the movie was considered a disappointment since it cost an estimated $200 million to make.
