D'oh! "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" Down to Rotten Territory

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2

Remember just a couple days ago when “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2” debuted on Rotten Tomatoes with 100% based on just six reviews and I said: “By Friday, when it’s all said and done, I don’t think reviews will stay this good, but it does have a good chance of being the only film in the franchise to get a Fresh rating...”?

Well, looks like I’ll be wrong. Already, it’s entered Rotten territory. As of this writing, the film has a 57% reading based on 86 reviews. Unless a batch of positive reviews starts flooding into Rotten Tomatoes, it doesn’t look good. The trajectory has been a steep decline.

Here’s the consensus from Rotten Tomatoes: “It might be the most enjoyable chapter in The Twilight Saga, but that won't be enough to make Breaking Dawn - Part 2 worth watching for filmgoers who don't already count themselves among the franchise's converts.”

Oh well. Now, let’s see if it can break the opening day and/or opening weekend records. According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, the opening day record is held by “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2,” which took in $91M last year. This summer's “Marvel’s The Avengers” has the opening weekend record with $207M.

“Breaking Dawn - Part 2” has a good chance. Part 1 scored the 5th highest opening day with $72M and the 8th highest opening weekend with $138M.
