'Doctor Strange' Movie Part of Marvel's Phase 3 Plans
If there are any doubts that a Doctor Strange movie is coming, Marvel's president Kevin Feige has put those to rest. He told MTV that Doctor Strange is "definitely" one of the movies in the studio's third phase plans.
"Doctor Strange, which I've been talking about for years, is definitely one of [the third phase movies]. He's a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he's totally different from anything else we have, just like Guardians of the Galaxy. He's totally different from anything we've done before, as is Ant-Man, which keeps us excited," Feige said.
So that pretty much confirms the movie, which was one Feige said he was trying to get made. Stan Lee said something similar late last year, but since he's not the official spokesperson for Marvel like Feige is, what he said is still considered a rumor even though he's Stan Lee.
The third phase movies will begin after The Avengers 2 arrives in 2015, but we may get to see the good doctor, who is one of the most powerful sorcerer in the world, before then, in one of the phase 2 movies.
Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer wrote the script, but other writers may have touched it up since they turned it in back in 2011. No director is currently attached.
