Disney Teases Super Bowl Trailers for 'The Avengers' and 'John Carter'

It looks like studios using short teasers to promote the trailer is becoming a trend, and they are here to stay.

I first noticed this when Fox released three slight different short teasers (over three days!) to inform us that the Prometheus trailer is coming out.

Of course, like a starving person with our first meal in days, we gobbled that up and spilled much digital ink about those teasers, dissecting them until there's really nothing left to say. And we liked it. It's the prequel to Alien, after all.

Now, Disney is taking a page from Fox's playbook and released its own teasers of the trailers they will show during the Super Bowl.

The 21-second tease for John Carter, Andrew Staton's live-action adaptation of Edgar Rice Burrough's A Princess of Mars novel, was released this Monday.

John Carter is the movie Disney really want us to check out because the movie is rumored to have cost over $250 million to make and they most definitely want to make that money back.

To entice us to check the the Super Bowl trailer, and hopefully the movie, Disney is giving viewers a chance to win tickets to next year's Super Bowl. All we need to do is watch for a special code to appear during the trailer, as the 21-second tease helpfully informed us. Check out the tease below.

Disney will also show the trailer for The Avengers during the Super Bowl. Since this movie sells itself, Disney isn't worried people won't turn out for The Avengers so there's no special codes to look out for here.

At the end of a Twitter chat session on Tuesday, Disney release a 10-second tease for the Super Bowl trailer which you can watch below. In this clip, we get to see a glimpse of what will transpire when alien crafts invade Manhattan.

Super Bowl 46 takes place on February 5th and kickoff will start on 6:30 pm EST/3:30 pm PST and can be seen on NBC. If you want to know what other movie trailers will show up during the Super Bowl, look here.
