Disney Gives Frozen Fans a Way to "Let It Go" in Public

The Mouse House (in its infinite wisdom) is releasing a sing-along version of the Disney film Frozen to over 1,000 theaters nationwide on January 31. Apparently the high volume of YouTubed fans singing “Let it Go” spurred Disney’s distribution execs to invent a magical dancing snowflake that bounces, karaoke-style, above the lyrics (located in the lower third of the screen).

Audiences are also encouraged to dance and act-along, however things like props (for example: toast to throw at the screen) have not been approved publicly. As a stopgap product this sing-along release both promises to increase the popularity of the film (pre-Oscar Ceremony) and create an attachment to the music for soundtrack sales that can roll into the film’s inevitable Broadway run.

After the success Disney had with the Lion King onstage they've been organizing their musicals in that model/spirit (many have commented on how much Frozen resembles Wicked, for example). The Los Angeles premier at the El Capitan Theater promises appearances by Elsa--not Idina Mendez, who voiced her--we should be realistic. Not everyone dressed like Dr. Frankfurter is Tim Curry.
