Gavin O'Connor Replaces Lynne Ramsay on 'Jane Got a Gun'; Jude Law Drops Out

Lynne Ramsay

We heard stories of actors not showing up for work before (Lindsay Lohan says hello), but rarely do we hear one about the director not showing up -- on the first day of production, no less. Well, here's one for the ages.

According to Deadline, Lynne Ramsay, who directed the indie thriller We Need to Talk About Kevin, did not show up for work when the cameras were set to roll on the western Jane Got a Gun, leaving the cast and crew members high and dry. Apparently, that was her way of saying she quit.

Now, the producers are scrambling to find her replacement since they still have to pay the people who are showing up to work everyday. (UPDATE: They got Gavin O'Connor to replace Ramsay)

"I have millions of dollars invested, we're ready to shoot, we have a great script, crew and cast," producer Scott Steindorff told Deadline. "I'm shocked and so disappointed someone would do this to 150 crew members who devoted so much time, energy, commitment and loyalty to a project, and then have the director not show up. It is insane somebody would do this to other people. I feel more for the crew and their families, but we are keeping the show going on, directors are flying in, and a replacement is imminent."

So yeah, Ramsay may have some trouble looking for work after this. It would be interesting to hear her side of the story on this.

Jane Got a Gun centers on a woman who sought out her former lover to help her fend off a band of outlaws trying to kill her husband. The movie stars Natalie Portman, Joel Edgerton.

Jude Law has dropped out following Ramsay's exit. What's going on here?
