Did Piracy Kill Kick-Ass 3?

Kick-Ass

Chloe Grace Moretz won the Saturn Award, from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, for Best Performance by a Young Actor for her role in the remake of Carrie. After she came back into the press room for photos, I asked her if she’s heard anything about a Kick-Ass 3. Her answer surprised me. Not that she wants to make it, but that she doesn’t expect it to happen.

“You know, I hope, I wish,” Moretz said. “That’s be fun. That’d be great. I doubt it, but I would love it.”

The reason she doubts a third film will be made is because of low box office. But the reason for the low box office may be criminal.

“The hard thing is if fans want a third movie, they’ve got to go buy the ticket to go see the movie,” Moretz said. “It was like the second most pirated movie of the year, so if you want a movie to be made into a second, a third, a fourth and a fifth, go buy a ticket. Don’t pirate it.”

If only there were a real Hit Girl to go after movie pirates.
