David S. Goyer Reveals WB/DC Still Hasn't Figured It Out Yet

If you're wondering why Warner Bros. is lagging behind Disney/Marvel in regards to its superhero properties, David S. Goyer essentially revealed that the studio still doesn't have a cohesive plan in place and said that not everyone should try to emulate Marvel.
"I know that Warner Bros. would love to make their universe more cohesive," Goyer told IGN. "There have been a lot of general conversations about that, but it's really, really early. I'm not sure. Marvel has had enormous success, but I'm not sure that everybody should try to emulate them either. It's just been vague conversations so far."
Goyer would know what he's talking about since he has access to WB's inner sanctum and is intimately involved with the studio's DC plans.
While it takes time for such a far-reaching plan to come together, that they're only at the "vague conversations" stage at this point shows just how far behind the studio really is.
WB's CEO Kevin Tsujihara did promise an announcement of "a film series" in the near future though, so maybe they're further along than Goyer let on.
Right now, the studio is making a big bet with the untitled Man of Steel sequel, aka Batman vs Superman, which is set for release on May 6, 2016. If the movie bombs, which is kind of unlikely, it'll set the studio's plan back a couple years as they scramble to fix what went wrong.
Also, since Marvel's Captain America 3 is also opening on the same day, look for WB to blink and move Man of Steel 2 a much friendlier date.
