Colin Farrell Joins Growing List of 'Doctor Strange' Hopefuls

We thought Marvel had got their Sorcerer Supreme when Joaquin Phoenix entered "final talks" for the role back in August, but those talks are "dead dead dead," according to Phoenix's publicist.
Ethan Hawke surfaced as the leading contender to replace Phoenix shortly after, but we're finding out he might not have been in the running in the first place.
Right now, Marvel is looking at Colin Farrell, Keanu Reeves, and Benedict Cumberbatch for the title role in Doctor Strange, according to TheWrap. Those are the current frontrunners, with Jared Leto, Justin Theroux and Oscar Isaac also in the mix.
We're not sure who will eventually end up with the part, but they are all great choices.
Scott Derrickson is directing from Jon Spaihts' script and production is set for sometime in May 2015. While Marvel has not officially announce Doctor Strange's release date, it is expected to be that of July 8, 2016.
