'Captain America 3' Already Has Its Directors

Captain America 2

Captain America: The Winter Soldier isn't in theaters yet, and its eventual follow-up has yet to be officially greenlit, but the folks at Marvel Studios are already getting their ducks in a row: According to sources at Variety, Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo will be back for Captain America 3.

The reported deal serves to underscore Marvel's project-by-project approach to caring for its burgeoning roster of franchises -- as Variety points out, the studio has often been reluctant to plan too far out in terms of creative teams for sequels, but they've also been known to act quickly when they need to (case in point: Nabbing Alan Taylor to helm Thor: The Dark World after Kenneth Branagh opted out of the gig).

Variety's sources say the Russos are already working with Marvel on an outline for the next sequel's storyline. As to how it'll tie in with the final act of The Winter Soldier -- or whatever goes down in The Avengers: Age of Ultron -- remains to be seen.
