Brett Ratner Reportedly on Shortlist to Direct 'Justice League'
According to SupermanSuperSite (via Screenrant), Brett Ratner is also on Warner Bros' shortlist to direct the Justice League movie. Others being considered are said to be Ben Affleck, who apparently passed on the movie, Lana & Andy Wachowski, and probably a couple others who are a mystery at this point.
The site's sources say WB is is “very pleased” with Ratner's past projects and is “very interested in seeing what he can do with helping finally bring this group of iconic superheroes to the big screen.”
The Rush Hour director prides himself as someone who makes movie for the masses, so Justice League is right up his alley. Ratner also has the benefit of having already done a superhero movie in X-Men: The Last Stand.
However, since Justice League is going to be WB's flagship superhero movie that kick off the spinoff movies of the individual characters like Wonder Woman, The Flash, Batman, and Green Lantern, Ratner may not be the best choice.
Ratner's best works are in action comedies, but the Justice League movie is described as dark and mature, so they may not be a perfect fit.
Given the choice between The Wachowskis and Ratner, I'd go with The Wachowskis every time. We'll find out who else WB is looking at in the coming days but I wouldn't be surprised if Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón are on the list.
