After reports of a troubled production, the box office success of Brad Pitt's World War Z caught a lot of people by surprise. Among them are probably the filmmakers themselves. Now, they're scrambling to come up with something for the obligatory sequel.

With a worldwide gross of over $536 million, World War Z is, somehow, Pitt's most successful movie to date, but it didn't appear that way when the movie was first screened.

"It was, like, Wow. The ending of our movie doesn't work," Paramount's President of Production Marc Evans said. "I believed in that moment we needed to reshoot the movie."

And reshoot they did -- about 40 minutes of it -- which caused the budget to balloon from $125 million to $200 million. But hey, the gamble worked out.

According to Damon Lindelof, who was brought on to help write the new ending, Pitt said this happened because they started shooting the movie without an ending locked down, which won't be repeated for the sequel.

"We have so many ideas and so much information -- we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from ... We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further," Pitt told Variety.

"We're certainly talking about [the sequel], yes," Pitt said.
