Inside Out

According to Deadline.com, Pixar’s “Inside Out” just passed $700M at the box office worldwide, the fifth film to do this at the animation studio.

Globally, it ranks behind “Toy Story 3” ($1.1B), “Finding Nemo” ($896M), “Monsters University” ($744M), and “Up” ($731M).

With a few more big markets to come -- including Germany, Italy, and China -- I could see “Inside Out” eventually passing “Monsters University,” but will probably not reach “Finding Nemo” unless it does gangbusters in China, which is unlikely (“Monsters University” managed just $34M there).

Overall, this is joyful news for Pixar.

Just last week, “Inside Out” became the studio’s highest-grossing non-sequel film.
