'Bourne Legacy' Sequel Set for Summer 2015

Aaron Cross lives -- for one more sequel, anyway. While Matt Damon partisans continue to keep their fingers crossed for another old-school Bourne adventure, Universal is moving ahead with a follow-up to 2012's The Bourne Legacy, which handed the franchise reins over to Jeremy Renner and expanded the original storyline about an amnesiac superspy and his quest to earn his freedom from the top-secret military project that spawned him.
Variety reports that the studio has set an August 14, 2015 release date for the as-yet untitled project, and although no screenwriter is named in the report, they've already got Renner locked down for another round of Bourne action -- and they've also lined up Justin Lin, who helped turn the studio's Fast and Furious sequels into powerhouse cash generators, to direct.
As Variety notes, Legacy grossed a rather underwhelming $276 million worldwide, partly due to "meh" word of mouth, but if there's one thing Lin knows, it's how to take a moribund film series and revitalize it. Anyone want to lay odds on the chances of seeing Dwayne Johnson in Bourne Legacy 2?
