Bob Peterson Really Is Off Pixar's 'The Good Dinosaur'

Update: The LA Times has confirmed that Bob Peterson is no longer involved with The Good Dinosaur.

"All directors get really deep in their films," Pixar president Ed Catmull told the Times. "Sometimes you just need a different perspective to get the idea out. Sometimes directors ... are so deeply embedded in their ideas it actually takes someone else to finish it up. I would go so far as to argue that a lot of live-action films would be better off with that same process."

Previous report: Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, while not in danger of extinction, may be in a bit of trouble because, according to Blue Sky Disney (via Slashfilm), director Bob Peterson has reportedly been relieved of his duties and the search is on for a new director.

Apparently, the story isn't working, and the film needs to make its May 30, 2014 release.

What about co-director Peter Sohn? No word on what will happen to him, but perhaps his part in the movie is not as major as Peterson's and will remain onboard as the co-director to further his education. Or Sohn could be Peterson's replacement.

Neither Pixar nor Disney has responded to the rumor so we won't know if this is for certain until they do. If you know anything about this, please let us know.

The Good Dinosaur explores what happens when the asteroid that caused the dinosaurs to go extinct actually misses. Lucas Neff voices an Apatosaurus named Arlo and John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, Bill Hader, Neil Patrick Harris, and Judy Greer are voicing the rest of his family members.
