'Blade Runner 2' Has Found a Writer

Blade Runner

Blade Runner 2 is not just a press release any longer because a writer has been found for the sequel, TheWrap has learned. Green Lantern's Michael Green is said to be in talks to write Blade Runner 2, which will take place a couple years after the events in the 1982 movie, according to TheWrap's sources.

As with projects this ambitious, the screenplay may go through the hands of several writers before it's finalized, so Green may not be the sole writer when it's all said and done.

Not much is known about the movie other than it's a sequel (or is it?), but that doesn't mean it will continue the story of Richard and Rachel. It could just take place in the same world, only a couple years later with different characters.

Sean Young was on record saying she had met with the producers of the movie, but she said they didn't have any plans on using any of the original people. Here's what she told Crave:

"Well, I did meet with Alcon, the company that owns it and is planning to do the remake with Ridley. I did meet with them, but I think at that point they just wanted to meet me and I don't think they have any plans of using any of the original people, although I can't say for sure. I do think, let me just say it right here, I do think it would be a disappointment to the audience not to have Rachel in it but you know what, folks in Hollywood make mistakes all the time."

She may have misspoke when she said the movie is a "remake," but we can't be sure. Of course, if there's no plan on using any of the original people, why would Alcon even meet with Young? She also revealed Rachel is a Nexus-7, a replicant without an end date, so that little detail may play a big part in the next movie.

As for Harrison Ford, he may or may not return; Scott is not saying either way.

"[Blade Runner 2 is] happening. With Harrison Ford? I don't know yet. Is he too old? Well, he was a Nexus-6 so we don't know how long he can live [laughs]. And that's all I'm going to say at this stage," Scott told Metro.

Wait, Richard is a replicant too?! My mind is totally blown. What's next? We've landed on the moon?
