Beyonce Knowles Exits 'A Star Is Born'

He's famous for getting his movies made quickly, but Clint Eastwood may have found a project that even he can't get off the ground: His long-gestating remake of A Star Is Born.
The film's latest setback came yesterday (October 9), when it was reported that Beyonce Knowles had departed the cast -- months after production was delayed to accommodate her pregnancy, and following a long stretch of fruitless overtures to putative leading men, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Christian Bale, and Bradley Cooper.
According to Collider, Eastwood remains undaunted; in fact, he's reportedly looking to cast Grammy-winning musician Esperanza Spalding in the female lead, although who might star opposite her remains to be seen.
Collider's report quotes Cooper as saying he passed on the project because "there are like three versions already," and his antipathy is shared by a number of film fans who were perplexed by the news that Eastwood was even considering a remake. Given his trademark impatience for filmmaking, it's hard not to wonder how long it'll be before he decides to scrap the whole thing and move on to the next movie.
