Beverly Hills Cop 4 Shooting Script Expected Next Month

Beverly Hills Cop

Beverly Hills Cop 4 has been rumored since 2007, and was sidelined for a bit when a potential CBS TV series was in the works. The sequel has a fairly definitive 2016 release date now, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed he expects to have a shooting script within a month.

"We have a script," Bruckheimer said. "It's being rewritten. By the end of July we should have a script that I think everyone will want to make."

And once that script is done, Eddie Murphy will just improvise all over it anyway, right? "That usually happens but you still have to follow the plot," Bruckheimer said. "Eddie's very good about knowing what in the scene explains the plot or moves the plot forward. He's somebody who doesn't let that get away."

While making press rounds for his horror movie, Deliver Us From Evil, Bruckheimer also confirmed that Detroit would play a major role in the fourth film. Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) always came from Detroit and ended up in Beverly Hills, but he might have more to do in Detroit this time around.

"He's going to end up in Detroit. Still be in Beverly Hills but he's also going back to Detroit. Part of it will be in Beverly Hills, part of it will be in Detroit. It's a fun movie."

Bruckheimer could not tell me if other regular characters, like Judge Reinhold's Billy Rosewood, would reappear in Cop 4. "I can't tell you at this point but you'll get an announcement shortly."

Beverly Hills Cop IV is slated for March 25, 2016.
