Benedict Cumberbatch Dropped Out of 'Crimson Peak' for 'Star Wars: Episode VII'?

Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch dropped out of Guillermo Del Toro's haunted house movie Crimson Peak last month for unknown reasons, but if the rumors are true, he may be re-uniting with his Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams for Star Wars: Episode VII.

Could this be the major casting news Latino Review was hinting at last week, or is it the result of someone just throwing out names to see which sticks?

Whether true or not, Cumberbatch's name is now out there and him dropping out of Crimson Peak must mean he has another project lined up, whether it's Episode VII is to be determined. Other web sites are hearing the same thing, so there may be something to this.

As to what role Cumberbatch is up for in the movie, the word is that he'll be playing a Sith, a role he will be playing throughout the entire trilogy, according to Badassdigest.

Could he be playing the rumored apprentice Palpatine took on before he died? Who knows? But his older appearance does make sense for the role.

We'll know soon enough. Lucasfilm, supposedly, will drop some major casting news on us at any moment now.
