Babak Najafi to Direct 'Olympus Has Fallen' Sequel

Scandinavian helmer Babak Najafi has come on board to direct the Olympus Has Fallen sequel London Has Fallen, THR has learned. He is replacing Fredrik Bond who has dropped out of the project nearly two weeks ago over "creative differences."
With the movie shooting at the end of October, the producers have to scramble to find Bond's replacement, and according to the report, Gerard Butler even considered dropping out of the project because the prospects under such short notice were underwhelming. It appears Najafi is the best of the bunch.
Najafi will be directing from a script written by Christian Gudegast.
Because of Butler's schedule, the movie will be shot in two phases. Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo will shoot their scenes first and then they will break until February, when Butler is able to join them with his commitment to Warner Bros.' Geostorm completed.
In London Has Fallen, the action will now shift over to London where the President of the United States is attending the funeral of a Prime Minister who has died under mysterious circumstances. The movie will be in theaters on October 2, 2015.
