Antoine Fuqua on '24': "That's Not Happening"

Still waiting for 24 to make its way to the big screen? It's not happening, according to director Antoine Fuqua. At least not with him at the helm.

"Yeah, that's not happening. I don't think it's gonna happen at all, definitely not with me. I met with Kiefer [Sutherland], Fox wanted to do it, it was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show [Touch]," Fuqua told The Playlist.

Sutherland's schedule is one of the reasons for the delay. Disagreement over the film's budget and Sutherland's compensation are the others.

"I don't think [Sutherland] was able to get a proper agreement with Fox. The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing," Fuqua said.

Fox wanted the movie's budget to be around $30 million, but the filmmakers wanted it to be somewhere in the $45-$60 million range.

It doesn't seem like the 24 movie is a high priority for Fox because if it is, it would have already been made. Besides, $45-$60 million is not a huge risk for a major studio like Fox.

According to Sutherland, the movie, should it ever happen, will take place 6 months after the series finale.
