‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Sells 3.9 Million Discs, Digital Sales Soar 40%
thewrap.com “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” scored the biggest digital debut in Lionsgate history, the studio said Tuesday. Lionsgate did not provide exact numbers, but said that opening weekend digital sales for the sequel rose 40 percent over the first film in the series. The picture also sold an estimated 3.9 million DVD and Blu-ray units in the United States in its first weekend of release, a modest increase over the 3.8 million “The Hunger Games” sold when it hit store shelves in 2012.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Synopsis and Credits

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" stars Alan Ritchson, Amanda Plummer, Bruno Gunn, Elizabeth Banks, Jena Malone, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lynn Cohen, Patrick St. Esprit, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Woody Harrelson.
