Sullivan Stapleton Gets Xerxes Role In '300' Prequel At Warner Bros
deadline.com BREAKING: Warner Bros has found its Xerxes, the main character in the prequel 300: The Battle of Artemisia. It’s Sullivan Stapleton, who was just set to star in the film that will be directed by Noam Murro. Stapleton was one of the terrific ensemble of Animal Kingdom, and he just completed a supporting role for the studio in Gangster Squad, the Ruben Fleischer-directed period crime film that stars Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin.

300: Rise of an Empire Synopsis and Credits

The events of the movie occur at the same time as those in Snyder's "300".Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. “300: Rise of an Empire” pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes, and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.

"300: Rise of an Empire" stars Callan Mulvey, David Wenham, Eva Green, Hans Matheson, Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro, and Sullivan Stapleton.
